roughly translated, hasta el fin means >the very last number of the night<, appropriate when you consider this is gigolos final release of 2009. the a&r process at gigolo is a constant and very simple formula! if hell likes it, plays it and gets a good reaction from the crowd then it needs to come out on his record label! no other record fits the criteria more the >hasta el fin<. this is a record that featured heavily in hells festivals and club sets and was played at the end of every after-hour he found himself. but its beginning is a little less finite.
the genesis came late last year when oliver ton invited various musicians for a jamming session. in the spirit of some masterful moments in music oliver ton and production partner ronald christoph captured something unique sounding with a dance record built largely around a vocal, guitar and piano performance. it was immediately signed to berlin based white records and assigned the fitting cat. no. of white999!!!
hell, an early supporter of both the record and label was smitten, personally requesting the license for gigolo. once this was granted he approached tony lionni for a remix. for many djs, including hell, tony lionnis >found a place< is without doubt one of the biggest records of 2009. so combining the talents of these two artists would appear to be a no brainer, and the results speak volumes. taking the vocal hook, layering it over a tough piano stab and italo style disco rhythm is the order of the day. as we approach the end of another decade for gigolo and the first of new millennium we are proud to present our last number of the 2009!

bot ox is one of many side projects for french label owner and music tastemaker cosmo vitelli, in partnership with julien briffaz (better known as one half of tekel). their last single >crashed cadillac< was one of the highlights from i m a cliches moments of a crisis compilation from earlier this year. this latest effort is a real slow burner, with the misty voice of anna jean flowing over top of lo-fi melodies and blistering rhythms. weve also heard the flip side for the release – >bearded lady motorcycle show< – which is a more aggressive electro growler.

>gobbldigook< is the spectacular opener of sigur ros recent album >med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust<, undeniably one of the most hymnic songs they have written thus far. fellow islanders stephen stephenson aka presidentbongo (of gus gus fame) and jack schidt couldnt resist but to transform the complex, polyrhythmic original into an exceptionally ethereal club track. when the angelic voice of jon birgisson unfolds on a club soundsystem it reallyfeels like you are in heaven. the ultraslim percussion groove takes over the tribalistic atmosphere of the original but catapults it some hundered light years forward into the future. thomas fehlmanns remix on the flipside is nothing short but sensational. we have no clue how he managed to turn this song into a schaffel but we salute him and take this as another unmistakable sign that the schaffelfieber is rising again in cologne, berlin, reykjavik andelsewhere ...

surprise and super-limited new release from kieran hebden, following up the blink-and-you-will-miss-it collaboration with burial on another mysteriously undorned and brilliant 12 inch for his own text imprint. on >love cry< b/w >our bells<, he succinctly shows both sides of his oeuvre, the lush love of the dancefloor, and a chance to exercise his more esoteric inclinations. the live-sounding drums, gorgeously nuanced textures and blissful samples of >love cry< couldnt really come from anyone else, especially when enveloped well into the track and the vocal loops begin to peel off into a deep house-meets-krautrock coda executed with that signature sleight of hand. if you are only going to put out two 12 inches in a year, youd expect the attention to detail to be high, and here its absolutely exquisite. with >our bells< on the flip he crafts a sublime beatless, gamelan influenced piece, like the kosmiche resonance of the flip is allowed to seep through and glimmer all over the grooves, radiating incandescent ambient harmonics with a lustrous psychedelic blur. seriously righteous wares, for the lovers…(be quick!)

heres a very limited 3 track ep from blast heads 6th cd album nu island. blast head is the most important and respected unit of japanese underground scene for over 10 years. dj hikaru is the most busiest dj who based on japanese most cultural spot grassroots tokyo. dr.tetsu is the programmer who produced some artist like ua and so on... nu wave is the 9 minute over peak time dance track. featured live steal pan playing by tico (little tempo). heres great fusion of caribbean feel organic sounds and head rush dance groove. sky high is the jazz funk/fusion feel disco/boogie track. if you like cro magnon sound, this tracks must be fits for you. bbq jam is the downtempo jam with the elements of jazz, dub, world music.

lets have fun! - thats the mantra of big zis and the crew of nation music. the swiss black music label has been broadening its musical spectrum over the past years. just like the artist big zis, whose music could most likely be labeled electro pop alternative punk rap, they dont care about common conventions.while rap becomes more and more pimped out, house loopier and minimal narrow-minded, big zis hooks up with a top-class troupe to get it her own way.for her most recent album und jetz … (and now …) she worked with marton di katz and valentino tomasi (both members of kalabreses famous rumpelorchester), who laid the musical foundations for most of the songs. for the impulsive electro on the track suure räge (acid rain) however, big zis collaborated with the techno producer michal ho (tuningspork) at the studio. suure räge got remixed by several well-known producers: robag wruhme (freude am tanzen) and canson (gs zürich) are to be found on volume 1 and the soul brothers lexx (aka kawabata / drumpoet) and kalabrese (stattmusik) successfully combat boredom on volume 2. the sound scapes of the remixes couldnt be any more diverse and cover a broad variety of styles. and be sure: volume 3 - work in progress - will delight you as well!

a 12inch ep called here we come is filled with funky, groove and latin techno ryhmes from well known and respected artists in today s techno scene. a side contains american express techno machine bryant baker cooperating with croatian dj and producer miche. their track just deserves to be on the pole position spot a1. funky, groove and unique are just 3 words describing their work as a team. a2 spot represented by upcoming spanish star rantan.
da ghetto party is one track among the others which is really special and exclusively done for >beat forming< this lp. nice and smooth, groove and driving techno.
b side has been reserved for a latino dancefloor kicker done by josh love. the track is called sexiest rasta. jamaican rasta voice, nice groove beat and overrated control over everything. josh did a good work by making this happen. great track to jump on!
the last but not the least is a track done by kai aka vortechtral on b2. nice, smooth, groove and melodic techno track to dance on. great one for filling the 3rd deck with >the badman< voice thru the track.

claire ripley, the london based producer and head of her new phobic records imprint sends over some lovely extended and hypnotic vibes with this magnifi cent four tracker, backed up by a classy remix by gorge of 8bit and cecille fame. just the right medicine as summer draws to a close! written and produced by herself, & engineered by justin drake, the ep captures all the excitement & promise that a new artist like claire exudes, plus the added bonus of having one half of peace division working the mix. nice! title track labyrinth introduces us into claires world with long, drifting arrangements full of tension and cooly placed melodic sentiments. deeply tuned, chunky drums work the floor while only a handful of carefully selected elements sing their tune. flirting between sunrise synth-lines and tingling atmospheric moments its a haunting adventure into modern hypno-house. gorges remix of >labyrinth< lifts the energy a notch with his trademark rolling drums and pushing energy from the very start. using the main hooks with discretion this 8 minute drum workout is a tough, addictive and essential club tool.

a fresh new collaboration with some top notch house tracks on this split release. agnes probably needs no introduction after his recent release on plak and running his own sthmllaudio, and he delivers all quality. big revelation on this 12 is jonny white with his tikkun olam... already a office favorite here at clone... we keep playing this over and over... somehow reminds of old deeper house tracks by mr fingers (athmosphere and basslines) but with modern productions skills. killer track and killer split release with some forward thinking house music thats embracing the future, without forgetting the past! recommended!

the word >detroit< is one that is used far too often in todayÆs techno realm. it seems that as soon as someone puts a pad over the top of a 4x4 kick drum they have the right to file their music under >detroit techno<. soà when tracks like this arrive in your inbox with no accompanying information, well itÆs a breath of fresh air to say the least. these four tracks by new boy mick welch truly capture the essence of detroit, bringing to mind the classic works by derrick may, kenny larkin and even hints of influences a little closer to home, b12, redcell, kirk degiorgio and the rest of the applied rhythmic technology crew for example. highly recommended.

2009 is quite obviously sven tasnadis year, having already released five eps this year on cream-of-the-crop labels like pokerflat, ornaments and liebe*detail. each ep revealed a new facet of the leipziger, riding the nuances between the 4/4 beat. after his ep >down under influence< with juno6 in spring 2009, tasnadi now dishes up his new solo ep on cargo edition. >what we do< is a classic housetrack - very deep and peppered with vocal shots that hold the tension of the track over its whole length. it s smooth, yet deliciously rough around the edges. >amour fou< on the b-side surprises with a very compact rhythm - around the driving bass drum fly percussive elements, all tied together by a reduced bassline, some interspersed vocal samples and deep chords.

after fergies massive >eye of storm / maktub< release, next up on his forward thinking excentric muzik label is the first offering from a new collaboration between two men of the moment, christian smith & reset robot, entitled >elixir<.
>elixir< is a driving monster with one of the catchiest and most addictive hooks of the year, instantly recognisable and is sure to be the highlight of many sets as it has been for fergie over the summer. on remix duties is mr henry von, who runs excentric sub-label rekluse with fergie. his >tribal rage< remix utilises the original hook, adds an interesting array of percussion, then takes the listener on a mind-melting journey full of twists and turns. gary beck (still on a roll after his massive >consumed< on minus) also takes hold of the remix reigns and delivers a deep and hypnotic workout that has already been included on christian smiths forthcoming renaissance compilation he liked it so much.

the revitalized moton records inc continues to impress and inspire us with amazing, undiscovered music. despite being launched in the early nineties, the label have only released just over 20 records. a co operative effort between djs diesel, harvey, faiths dave jarvis and ashley beedle, this label has expertly amended and extended many and undiscovered, lost classics. as passionate afficionados and music lovers, their selections for the moton treatment are always dealt with respectfully, and released in super limited quantities, hence the crazy prices they reach in the second hand market! this expertly crafted trio of cuts is right up there with their best ever releases. from incredible vintage soul to priceless soulful disco, the moton biys have unearthed yet more buried treasure for your listening pleasure the quality is off the scale, the pressing is a one off - you know what to do!

caravans latest 12 inch finds jilt van moorst at the controls with two beautifully worked cuts, which also featured within octobers much lauded >recession vol. 1< mix. expect some cross-over appeal for the worlds of techno, dub-step and broken-beats. this is exactly the kind of dance floor sneakiness we ve come to love and expect from the caravan stable. totally hot.

microscope contents is the first single to be taken from kelpes forthcoming third album for dc recordings cambio weschel (which is released on october 12th 2009). it begins with the eponymous title track - an infectious, bass driven, electro melody which pulses over a constantly evolving percussive groove...

the brussels based sirius pandi label reaches a rounded 8th vinyl release with two tracks from spaniard labels boss fernando daxta and a remix by greek man of our time mr.statik (memo, rotary cocktail, immigrant, perplex, karloff…).
>drunvalos drums< is a track that has been being tested by fernando with positive audience reactions during live sets in demanding places like toy (stuttgart) electrosonic festival (burgos) or rioma (mexico city). its frequencies between house, techno and minimal make a celebrative ravy drummy atmosphere perfect for those times where warm ups are over… colombian singer natalia davila recently added the consciousness speech during a studio session in mexico city giving the track that special femenine touch.
